I've seen landowners that allow trails through their property look upset when they hear the unmistakeable sound of a 2-stroke coming down the trail. I had one and the noise is the main reason I got rid of it. And, smelling like a chainsaw everytime I went for a ride added to the decision.
noisier??? you do know 4 strokes carry there sound farther dont you? you do know in motocross the 4 stroke noise is a BIG concern? of course you dont or you wouldnt have said 2 strokes are noisier

I'm talking quads, as the original post spoke of going from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke. If you put the same pipe on a 2 stroke as a 4 stroke the 2 stroke will put out more of an annoying high pitched scream. I've been on both 250s with 2 strokes and 4 strokes. No way is a 4 stroke noisier or less irritating to me. I can hear a 2 strokes distinctive whine for miles on a quiet day. A 4 stroke is more of a rumble. Low and not harsh on the ears. You have your opinion, I have mine. If I still had 250s in 2 and 4 stroke, and a decibel meter I'd check it out, but I know what my ears tell me.
