Default Sportsman 550xp

Went and bought a 2012 550xp today and after getting it home and riding Very nice quad. But my question is that it seems like they shoiuld have a lot more low end than what it has at the moment very sluggish off the go. I traded in a 2010 400ho and it took off a lot quicker than this thing does. Was just wandering if there was anything I could do to help in acceleration and toque such as clutching or exhaust and has anyone put a efi controller on these machines. And one other thing is that At about 40mph on the road I get a pretty bad shake in the front end so I cannot really get much higher than 45 was wandering if it was just the stock tires or maybe a flat spot from sitting at the dealer floor??? Thanks for all the help in advance

Just in break in mode meaning that give it some time to loosen up. I am sure it will be fine after 100 miles or so and as far as the wobble or vibration it is most likely the tires. Make sure they have air in them. I run mind at max which is 7 psi but a lot of people run them around 5 and have good sucess. If it does not have enough at the low end a stiffer drive clutch spring will raise engagement and help in the low end.

I believe polaris changed the clutching for the 2012 so it is a little slower/smoother take off. The previous years had some complaints because it was too harsh for most peoples taste. I personally like a quick hard engagement upon taking off from a stop. To each their own.

Getting the tires balanced can really smooth out the ride at higher speed. Even muddy rims and tires can make mine vibrate terribly at 45-55. Clean 'em and balance 'em.
