My 2002 Polaris Ranger 4x4 runs great for about 1 hour and then sputters and turns off. It will not restart after that. If you wait a couple of hours it will restart and run again for another hour. We have maintained a routine schedule of changing oil, spark plug, air filter, etc. We would welcome any thought on what could be wrong and how to resolve this problem, Thanks.

Welcome to the forum ! On the old series 11 I would first check out the 20 amp thermal circuit breaker close to the battery and coil area under the seat. This breaker can get hot and kill all power, cool down and allow it to start again. It's in a sealed pouch(may have to pull up the metal guard under the seat to find it?) Just slit the pouch and check the connections for corrosion, etc. You can match it up at any auto store if this is the problem. If this doesn't help then it could be ignition system getting hot and shutting down,(stator, cdi, coil, etc) Then you would need the resistance specs to ohm out the stator and coil. You can do the basics and check all connections, plug wire for any bare spots, plus when it quits, see if you have fire at the plug cap with another plug grounded to the engine. If doesn't have fire, pull the plug cap and check the bare wire against the engine for spark. Resistor plug caps can short out also. OPT
