Question 97 Xplorer 400 don't wanna stop!

Hey all, new to here and hoping someone can give me a bit of advice!
I have a 97 Xplorer 400 that sometimes will shut off with the kill switch or ignition and sometimes it won't. I have shut the ignition off, turned off the kill switch and she just keeps on running. The only way I can stop it is to choke it...any thoughts on where to start looking?
Thanks

Welcome! Pop the front panel and check the black wire from the cdi has a good connection. This is the kill circuit wire. If it appears to have a good connection, could be the kill circuit has shorted out within the cdi module itself. I've had a few of these do this, some customers would replace the cdi, some just decided to turn off the switch and choke em down like you. Hopefully it's just a connection problem on the black wire. Thanks for the reply, I was cleaning the bike up today, doing some adjustments but a bit timid of messing with the electrical. I will check it out tomorrow and see if cleaning up the board helps any!
