2013 Service Manuals
#1
Picked up a 500 Touring and would like a Service Manual. Are they out yet or where would I get one? I like to get the hard copy instead of downloadable since I pack them in the truck for when we go riding in case I need yo work on one in the field. Is the 2012 the same as the 2013? New to quads, but been on dirt and street bikes for 30 years.

Dealer might be your best bet as it does take a while for Clymer, Haynes, etc to catch up and imo they just don't compare to a good Polaris shop manual. There will always be changes on model years, some just minor plastic changes and engine tranny, suspension other parts probably will be compatible with the previous year. But just my old opinion again,if you're going to spring for a manual(unless the two years are lumped together) I'd get the one for your specific year model. OPT

Checked withPolaris about obtaining a 2013 Service Manual or the 500 H.O. Touring. Got the following reply:
"Thank you for contacting Polaris Industries regarding s service manual for a 2013 Touring 500 HO. We have an agreement with the dealers where the service manual is a resource that is available to the dealers. It is at the dealers discretion to offer a service manual to the consumers. Your dealer will need to use their resources within Polaris Industries to find a part number for that item.
I guess that means I need to go back to the dealer and get them to find the part number for ordering. Anyone else have any ideas?

Catch 22! Takes awhile on the new models at times for even the dealers to get service manuals and accessory catalogs. At least it did for our shop. Polaris would send us the manuals and the catalogs that included the manual part numbers. Plus the service manuals themselves do have the part number on them for reorder. Yes Polaris wants you to have to go through the dealer, but if the dealer doesn't have the info yet,he has to wait for Polaris or call! Too much red tape. OPT
