rolling problems

Default rolling problems

I just put a chain in my 2000 scrambler 500 now it will only roll a few inches backwards and a few inches forwards can any body help with this Ian a newbie

Might be a stupid answer,but make sure you're in neutral Also if you're sure the chain is installed right(you didn't leave a punch through the sprocket into the rear axle housing) and slack in the middle of the chain is between 3/8" to 1/2" could be that the prop shaft turning may be causing one of the front hubs to engage. Just place in forward gear,rock back and forth,then try reverse and do the same. Then place in neutral and see if it rolls. If this doesn't help you may have a problem in the rear axle housing. OPT

I had it in neutral and the chain looks correct did not use a punch or screwdriver just us pipe wrench to turn the housing
