another quick question! I was just familiarizing myself with the location of the oil drain plugs and vent hose and noticed that the oil tank vent hose about 3 inches out from the tank has about a 1/2 inch slice in the side. Is this normal?? I checked my dads machine which is the same model as mine, bought about a week later, had the same slice in it.

Perfectly normal for this slit to be there. It's to vent any condensation out of the oil tank vent tube to keep this line free and open especially in colder climates. I remember this slit well as I had to slice a bunch myself on some of the very early Magnum and Sportsman tubes when Polaris noticed the condensation problem and sent a tech bulletin....
