Glad you got the Expedition sorted out. As far as the Sportsman 400,could be just needing the shift linkage adjusted.Have the transmission in neutral. Check that the levers(belcranks) on the transmission are tight along with the linkage ends.Loosen the 10mm lock nuts behind the ball ends that go to the shift box, remove the two 10mm nuts securing them to the shift box slides. Turn the ball end adjusters until they line straight up with the slide holes and drop in with NO resistance. Tighten everything up and see if reverse shifts ok.If still having problems, might be time to replace worn parts in the shift box, especially if the shift lever has a lot of back and forth play in neutral and also while in gear. If it's a simple matter of no power/limiting in reverse, then yes have him push the yellow reverse over ride button...Then he will have full power along with awd in reverse.

Expedition 425 has oil bathed centrifugal and motorcycle type clutch plate clutch also. Not to be messed with unless you have a manual on this one. Jb weld, etc could help if the hole isn't too big.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
