Just unscrews from the carb. #44.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
The pull choke lever rubber sleeve unscrews from the housing and then the plastic nut unscrews. Slip the nut over the choke lever and you can pull choke assy out from the housing. Top of the headlight pod has to be remove to do this. Then just pull the whole cable out. #19. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Thanks Old Polaris tech .. I unscrewed the first part from the carb but left the larger nut on. tried to remove it But it is on pretty tight. It was starting to strip so I let it go. I will try again.

You have to unscrew the rubber sleeve in front first to remove the large nut. This sleeve actually can be tightened to make the choke operation stiffer or looser which most people don't realize.

There was no Rubber sleeve only a rubber boot covering all of it. Smaller brass on cable just threads into larger brass nut on Carb. No rubber boot on replacement cable I have bought.

Wasn't talking about the brass carb end,but the choke **** end. The soft rubber cover before the nut on the pod can be tightened to hold the choke lever out or loosened to where the lever returns to closed position when you let go. It has to be loosened completely to get the large nut off.
