Just look at the section above the oil drive sprocket removal and it shows the transmission cover removal and gears. In other words the engine halves can stay together but the left cover,clutches have to be removed to get to the transmission gears. Best I can remember.

I actually have the oil pump out and bolts removed.

IF this is the good engine(I'm still confused) replace the crank seals while you have it torn down.If it's the bad one,never mind Remove the drive clutch and the remove the gear plate. That is if this is the one that has the bad gears,good engine or if I have it reversed.Either way both gear cases have to come apart.Now I'm babbling....

The one pictured is the good engine, bad trans.

Then rip the gears out. Should be easy to find out what's wrong.

I will update with pics later, but got the motor and trans out of the other bike last night. It has been too cold to work out in the unheated garage.

I bet it has been... I didn't even like our little cold snap that we had for a few days down here. Probably would have felt like early Fall to you northern guys..

haha. it was 18 in my garage at one point. too damn cold.

Did get down to 16 degrees(by my outdoor thermometer) for a couple nights but warmed up. Think I can live with our forecast for the next few days. Especially tomorrow and Wednesday. May break out my shorts..
