LOL...The new 1000's will get around twice the mpg your 700 gets while packing almost twice the HP and will get you there twice as fast if you know how to ride it! It'll also jerk a kink in your neck if you're not ready when you squeeze the trigger and may even give you a good view of the clouds if it hooks up just right!

They hook up real good on blacktop.

Biggest complaint on the 700(besides the early Ducati ignition system) was the gas mileage or lack of that people got. 700 was a gas hog,improved a little when it went to efi.

Haven't asked my son about his gas mileage. Will check when we finally get to ride after "mud season". Mine isn't even broken in yet. Right now the gas mileage isn't what I would term as thrifty.

I've found the extra power nice when going over obstacles. Pops the front end over much more easily than the 650 did. First ride I was reminded about not hitting the throttle too hard in a corner. It really does lighten up the front end if you hit it too hard. When chasing the smaller, more nimble quads through the woods I do tend to lose them a bit in the corners, but can reel them in if I have a good straight section or mild corners. Lots of fun.
