Default X2 not running right

I have a 06 polaris x2. It has run perfectly for 12 years. I use it hard for snow plowing and mountain trails. It has 3900 miles on it. It started idling fast a couple weeks ago. Then it started idling slow and dying. I changed the spark plug, cleaned the air filter and got fresh gas. Didn't help. Then it flashed hot for a second on the display then died. Couldn't get it to start. The next day it started fine but still idling too slow. What should I start looking at?

Tbap and tps wiring and connectors along with the rubber grommet under the tbap for any cracking or split. You can look for any bare wires on the sensor harnesses and for any soft feeling wires that may have melted internally. Usually not the sensors but the thin wiring and cheap connectors are the most problem areas.Like the manual says 85% of efi problems are wiring related. Wouldn't hurt to also do a fuel pressure test just to eliminate the pump from being a problem. Should hold 39 psi +/- 2 psi. You might try jiggling the wiring while it's at an idle and see if the engine changes rpms. That could help narrow down the problem. The sticky post on "Spilling the beans on 700/800 efi wiring" above the the expert section goes into detail on this also. Applies to all efi machines. From the sticky post came otb that offered better harness repair kits than I had from Polaris that would fail over and over.https://otbpowersports.com/products/

Thanks for the reply.
What does tbap stand for. I know TPS is throttle position sensor. the tps wires seem fine.

Finally took it to the dealer. They charged 295.00 to diagnose and replace the throttle position sensor. Seemed to run fine until i took it in the mountains. Got into some steep hills and had to give it more than half throttle and the engine would bog down until i let off the throttle. Then it would start running OK again. Losing power on all the steep hills. We were at about 6000 foot elevation. It's ran fine up there before so I don't think the elevation had anything to do with it. any ideas???

Default Back to the dealer

It will be going in to the dealer for the third time. Runs great for about 10 minutes then the engines starts cutting out . I want to get a 2019 premium 850sp but can't sell the x2 till I get it running good. Very frustrating.
I did notice the the exhaust smells odd when the engine starts cutting out.

How's your coolant? Is the oil milky? Kind of seems like a head gasket, or coolant leak somewhere.
