charging system

Default charging system

i have a 2013 sportsman 550 and all of a sudden it quit in the bush and had to boost it it would only run untll the battery died what do i need to look for

to begin you likely have a 5 year old battery. get it started get someone with a mutimeter, set it to dc volts and see what your output is .it should be charging at about 13.6 13.7 volts at about 3000 rpm.if this is ok.have a local shop test your battery.most places will do ti for free. good luck..

it actually should be higher voltage is your battery is dead. not surer about the newer models as I have not had any experience with them what it may be that your module went bad which controls how many volts the and when to stop charging the battery. if you fully charge your battery w/ a battery charger which should be around 12.6 volts not hooked up as mentioned have it load tested to see if it's good. if good then the charging system is the issue.

Sounds like you have a bad voltage regulator # 3 in the pic part # 4012678
