My 2000 SP has 520 miles on it. It started making a rattling noise at the end of my last ride. The noise is worst at about 3000 RPM when there is not much load on the belt. I took the belt cover off and ran it in neutral. At around 3000 RPM the belt flops up and down on the topside alot. Does this mean my belt has a flat spot? I turned the rear pulley backwards and watched the belt on the pulley. It rides about 1/8" above the pulley for about one-half round then 1/4" above the pulley the other one-half. Any suggestions, I'm new too belt drives?

That belt is HISTORY!!!!
Does your 2000 have the lifetime belt warranty like the 2001's? If not should not be expensive to fix.

No lifetime belt warranty. They started that in 2001. Do you recommend only Polaris Belts?
Thanks for the help.

Your belt should last longer than 500 miles? Are you using Lo range when going through mud and up hills etc. I have just changed my belt after 2000 miles and it was still OK and I ride quite aggressively.

Yes, I use low range alot. Must have been a bad belt. Hope its not something wrong with on of the drive pulleys.
