Thumb Throttle
#1
Does anyone know of a thumb throttle extension or replacement for a 2000 Sportsman 500? I am missing my right thumb and currently operate the throttle with my palm. Any ideas or input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You might try calling a company like HPD ( http://www.hpd-inc.com ) and look into a twsit throttle, it should be easier to use.
I don't that anyone has a extension for the '99 & '00 models because Polaris redsigned the thumb throttle.
Good luck!

Try the "thumb saver". I've seen it advertised in the back of DW. Apparently its some type of extension that allows you to use your palm. The company is CDS Inc. (800)-791-1333. For $13.- (as of my 4/99 issue) it might be what your looking for.

You can make one yourself from some straight aluminum stock and a couple of allen screws that you can countersink into the aluminum and attach nylock nuts. You only have to drill two holes thru the stock throttle, so you can go back to it if you want. The angle can be changed to suite your need. I made mine to help with using big mittens and use my palm many times when plowing snow.
I'll e-mail it to you . . .

Thanks guys
I appreciate all of the ideas. I had tried Cabella's & others but no one made anything for newer than a 98 model. Jacks photo of the one he had made looks like the ticket. Again, thanks all.
