When riding my 300 2 stroke in cold weather, it bogs at mid range and at full throttle seems to run out of gas.Book says to turn air screw in- does this lean the mixture out or enrichen it? Does anyone else have this problem incold weather. I saw on another post that the air screw should be set at 1 1/2 turns out. Thanks

Pete,

There is a little more to adjusting the carb for winter riding than just turning a screw. Normally Polaris machines generally run on the rich side during hot weather. This may or may not translate to running properly during certain temperatures. The colder it gets, the richer you have to go because of the air density.

First thing I would do is to go a main jet size larger and perhaps even drop the clip on the needle jet to it's bottom position. Next, while you have the carb apart, replace the pilot jet with one a size larger. This set up should work for even the coldest days.

Oh yes, while you have the carb apart, clean it out with some carb cleaner. It almost sounds like something is gummed up in the main jet.

Hope this helps.
