I have a friend that has a Polaris Trail Boss that he can not get to go in gear. He has tried to adjust it but it still will not move forward or backword. The neutral and reverse light both is on when it is put in gear but it will not move. It dont even make a grinding noise like it is trying to go in gear. Just sounds like it is stuck in neutral. Does any one know what could be wrong with it and what may need replaced.

 

Check and make sure the linkage is moving and it's moving the connection at the trans. If that all looks good, then I'm afraid it in the trans. I belt won't make that happen, so either pull the trans or schedule it in for service.

On the other hand if the linkages do not move then the problem is in the shifter assembley
