I'm trying to find a used 400 Scrambler 4x4 and I found a guy that has a '01 model. It seems like I remember hearing that they only made it in 2x4 in '01...is that correct? He said it's red in color, if that helps.

Just a limited production Scrambler 400 4x4 X was made in the last 2 years. It's mainly blue with some yellow. The Scrambler 400 4x4 X is either a 01 or 02 model, I'm not sure.

The regular 400 4x4's were in production in 2000 and prior.

If it is red;
a) It is not a 2001.
b) It is a 500 4 stroke.
c) For some odd reason he changed the colors.

 

I thought that 01 was the last year of production for the 400 4x4, though I could be wrong. You could check the Polaris home page and find out for sure. They have the line ups listed for the last few years.

 

The 2000 model was the last 400 4x4. There were no 400 4x4 in the 01 models. In 02 they made a limited edition 400 4x4 X. You can see mine in my pics.

 

GE4x4 is correct, When I bought my 2x4 in 2000 I seriously considered the 4x4 because my dealer said once they were gone that was it, He probably purchased it in 01 but got a 00 model since those were the only production 400 4x4's with red plastic.
