POLARIS O/0/0 Offer a SCAM
#1
Last week i received the latest copy of that magazine Polaris sends to owners (forget what they call it) On Page 23, there is a Sportsman 700 Ad. At the bottom of the page it reads "Pay Zip Zero to 03" Underneath that it says "0 intrest, 0 down payment, 0 payments for 12 months from date of purchase, on ANY polaris ATV". In small print at the bottom it says offer valid from 1/21/02 to 4/30/02.
My Magnum is 2 years old. I was not considering a new machine yet, but after reading the ad I decided to buy it now. When I went to the dealership, they told me the ad was a misprint and was only valid in Canada. (Make no mistake, my dealership is GREAT and I DO NOT blame them).
The only REAL offer is the 34.00/ month at 17. somtething interset.
That sales tactic is simply BAIT AND SWITCH. WOnder how many other people were lured into a showroom after reading that ad that Polaris mailed TO them? It is an effective way to get customers in and hopefully persuade them to buy anyway.
I love my Polaris, but I truely despise being mislead.

Andy,
I cannot remember the name of the magazine that Polaris sends out. I threw my last one away after tearing out the o/o/o ad. They send it out @4 times a year. It has the latest news about all Polaris products (ATVs, snowmobiles, watercraft, motorcycles) as well as articles about organized events around the country. Mine started coming automatically after I bought my quad. I suppose the dealer is supposed to send something in maybe. Hope that helps.

OOPS...Hit the wrong button on the last post lol
Last Thursday I decided to contact Polaris to ask about the "misprint". There is no email address listed on the Polaris website (shows how much they care about customer feedback) so I called the only 800 number listed. That number is for locating a dealer. The lady had no clue about promotions. She gave me the 763....number for "Customer Service". I called and asked about the ad. The guy was VERY familiar with the ad. He informed me it was all a misprint. I explained that had already I made a trip to a dealer to find this out. I asked shouldn't Polaris honor the advertisemant anyway to the few people interested enough in THEIR product to call in the first place and since it was THEM who mailed it to me in their magazine. He instantly told me he was sure the companies attorneys had already checked that out. Now Im even more furious. Within 1 minute of calling "Customer Service" Im being told about lawyers! And after all, I own a Polaris already and was trying to BUY ANOTHER POLARIS.
Today Sat April 6, I received a retraction in the mail explaining the "misprint" and they apologized for any inconvenience.... Let's see..the promotion was supposed to run from 1/21/02 thru 4/30/02 and I received the magazine @3 weeks ago..They wait til April 6 to send a correction.. Sound like an honest mistake?? LOL
I'm not sure what honoring the 0/0/0 advertisemant would have cost Polaris in dollars, but it has now cost a loyal customer. After being a bible thumping Polaris fan for years, I looked at a Kawasaki 650 on Friday (for the fist time). Very impressive and VERY FAST. Buying it next Tueaday. No lawyers needed .

The 650 will be a GREAT example of why IRS is not necessarily needed for the general rider. And even in extreme mudding it holds its own while still offering strong benefits on hills, trails, and drag racing. You will like it. I have not gone in deep mudholes yet but I have not been stuck yet in heavy mud or snow and I am riding stocker tires.
My only wish is that I could afford to buy an IRS atv in order to have the best of all worlds.
