700 belt on a 500 ho
#1
I have been reading some posts where people have put a belt from a 700 on a 500, Sportsmens's that is. Has and does this really make a difference. I have phoned my dealer and the cost of the belt is <$50.00 . Does this really work?
Thanks

As xcrider says; yes it does work, and rather well. My son had his 500 belt replaced with the 700 belt. This was done by the dealer, under warrenty. (lifetime on the belt), so I don't know what the cost of the belt would have been. The dealer says that the specs of the belts and the cost is the same, only the 700 belt is a little more heavy duty. Dealer also says that polaris recommends the 700 belt for the 500 if you ride hard.??????? My son says that the ebs feels a lot stronger with the 700 belt, but that could be because his 500 belt was in such poor condition. Go For It!!! $50.00 sounds a little high. $37.50 is sticking in my head for some reason.

I have a relatively new (30hrs) 2000 SP 500 that has apparently developed a clutch / belt problem. I have never tinkered with my machine as it is still under warranty. How difficult is the EBS system to work on? Are service manuals and parts available? If so where is a good source? My dealer has had my machine 6 weeks and I have lost all confidence in his ability. As he says " We just sell um ".
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
