There are numerous differences and if I had to decide between the two I would choose the ktm without hesitation! It is one hell of a machine right out of the box! The only thing I can think of that the outlaw has over the ktm is the irs option....and that is only an advantage if you trail ride alot. Otherwise, straight axle is the way to go imo!

The Outlaw 525 is a straight axel. Here is a review on all of them.

well, the outlaw has a HUGE price advantage. The ktm is about a bit lighter and comes with race ready components for XC. But if you're going to mod it anyway, why not get the outlaw? What's the point of replacing the near-top-of-the-line suspension for the very-best-top-of-the-line suspension if you could have just saved $2500 and gotten the outlaw instead of the ktm in the beginning.

One thing that's different is the out of the box Horsepower. The KTM has 41 at the wheels and the Outlaw has 38. They have the same motor but I'm sure it comes down to stock intake and exhaust set up there. If it was me I would get the Outlaw and put the extra money into add ons and make it Rip. Of course the KTM has an awesome Chromoly frame that is hard to beat. I think the outlaw looks more suited for bigger guys too since the handle bars sit a lot higher. So that's just a few things to look at with these beasts.

According to HMF, both the KTM and Outlaw put out the same HP. Seen this on other exhaust sites to. The only place I've read where the KTM had more power was DW mag. And we all know how accurate they are. The shootout between the Outlaw and KTM had them near dead even on power and drags with the slight advantage to the KTM. But this is more due to 30lbs lighter. The $2500 price differance and only a 30 day warrenty with KTM, the Outlaw is hard to beat. Plus, even tho the KTM does come with Ohlins, there are not the best and still need to be rebuilt for your style. That is another $700

Dirt Wheels did the shootout, but I found the info in ATV action Mag which I trust more than DW's. They said they dynoed the KTM at 41, the Outlaw at 38, and the Raptor700 at 41. I wouldn't think they would lie. But like I said, the outlaw has a worse air intake and exhaust design from the factory which is probably the main reason they differ in HP. This can easily be remedied so no big deal there.

Amen! The very reason I bought another predator. Got my new 07 TL predator last month for only 5k! With competitors 2k more or so, I could do a lot of mods and smoke em! I looked hard at the outlaw too...I do know polaris has an eccentric intake system that really robs hp's. Changing that alone and rejetting if nothing else should make up that 3hp and would only cost about $250.....

ATV Rider just did a shootout of the big bores which was the ktm 525 xc outlaw 525s and the raptor 700 They did every kind of test and the ktm 525 xc took everything from Trail Riding and MX to dirt drags, Hill climbing and sand drags. The outlaw 525s dynod in at 38 RWH the raptor 700 dynod at 41 RWH and the ktm 525 dynod at 45 RWH. The ktm 525 price tag msrp at $8,900 the outlaw 525s msrp is at $7,300 and the raptor 700 msrp is 7,100 thats just th regular one not special edition. Just the front ohlins suspension is $1,600 dollars and the rear is $500 that is straight off there web site. So just puting that suspension on either the raptor 700 or the outlaw 525 would make that bike more expensive then the ktm 525 xc.
