Brief internet search. He's worked at his dealer as a mechanic for about 6 years now. Think he knows what he's talking about lol
Now like I said, with mods the 525 response a lot quicker. With a pipe it'll go from 43 at the wheels to 48-50 (pipe) while a pipe on the 500 will bring it from 44 to same 48. Now keep going 525 starts getting more hp lot quicker. I like the 525, ktms are NICE. But just saying stock vs stock, predator/outlaw 500 has more hp. And for the price with the money saved can mod it right away!
He rides a 700 raptor so he's not a fanboy of polaris. He respects anything that deserves it. Almost any 450 can give any quad out there a run for its money. I'm just not that interested in it. I like to feel some weight under me since I'm not that small.</end quote></div>
For the life of my I searched the internet and couldnt find a single offical dyno rating. So, I went with what people on this forum and the few searches I did find. The KTM bike I thought put 60hp at the crank, I guess I must be wrong then. But, I wanna know how there is such a difference in the bikes speed compared to the 500's. If its actually making less... then they got something right on the 525 lol.
EDIT: Here is some good info on it and the differences of the 500 and 525.. quite a bit really http://www.atvsport.com/output.cfm?id=1229941

You are the most accurate so far from what I've been reading in this thread. The predator makes more like 36-38hp to the rear wheels bone stock and the Outlaws make around 40 and do respond to mods better. The aftermarket for the predators is quickly fading as well, and the Outlaws will only continue to grow for that KTM motor. But to answer TheJcodes original question, I think that Outlaw 500 would be a great tight trails machine with the IRS rear suspension and decent low end torque for lugging. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

Whatever happens do NOT spend $4000 on an Outlaw 500. Check this out! Outlaw 500

Haha. If I want to travel about 8 states. 4k on a outlaw is a good price. That price is deal of century kind of thing. As long as it's not beat or sitting with a bad motor he isn't telling you about.
Location is my biggest problem. I'm so far north in MI I have to look atleast in WI to find anything decent.
