what kind of mods can i do to my z 250 to keep up wit a blaster

I bought a new blaster in 98 and beat on it for 2 years with no problems exept the rear brake locking up once. I went to florence with about 20 people and one guy had a 300ex with a K&N and Pipe. The first bike i rode was a honda 250r 3-wheeler and bought a new blaster as a starter bike, yeah i outgrew it in 3 months and got a banshee but the blaster was ridden by a ton of people who beat on it and loved it. Oh yeah the 300ex guy said i wouldnt be able to keep up with him. That was a joke, i watched him look for a "easier " route up the larger dunes , we ridiculed him all week. You may be able to upgrade enough to barely keep up, but the best upgrade would be a new bike. blasters are not peices of crap on the contrary they are very reliable and the rear brakes are hydraulic now. Blasters are one of the few 2-strokes that dont need new pistons often. They are well lubed and last a long time, and very easy to work on.

By the way i rode a new kfx 400 for long enough to see thay arent that fast, personally id rather buy a blaster and with the 2500 id save buy a 240 kit, K&N, a pipe , and make you eat my dust. IM not hating just saying the truth.

It's all about rpm's. The blaster prolly revs a lil higher, and will come out of a corner faster cuz of the clutch.
The one responce with the pipe and air filter was good advice.
If I remember right, the z250 is shaft drive or I'd say gear up.
Bottom line is: the z250 is made for casual riding where the blaster is made for,um,,errrr,,ahhhhhh I can't seem to remember why they made that thing! j/k hahahaha
