Manipulating the clutch?

The Z250 is semi-automatic. I have found that if you lift up on the shifter, not enough to change gears, you can slip the transmission just like a manual bike. I was wondering if it hurts the trans in any way?

ive heard that could mess it up but im not 100% sure.... ive already had to buy a new clutch for mine cause it kept slipping when i would get on it. personally i wouldnt do it.

I've got a friend that has an older Yamaha Moto 225. He's done it since he had it and the tranny's about to go out on it. The short-term thrills from it do NOT outweigh the long-term damages in my opinion.
