have a 90 quadrunner 4wd 250,my starter seems to turn wrong and turn when i pull star pls help?just did engine overhaul!!!!pls help me!!

 

If the starter is turning over with the motor the bendix is stuck. You may be able to get it loose, by taking it apart. Why do you think it's turning backwards? Is the starter hooked up correctly? If so I can't think of a reason of why it would turn backwards. What did you replace in the motor?

 

WHEN I PULL THE PULLCORD WITH THE STARTER OUYT IT TURNS THE OPPOSITE WAY INSIDE THE GEAR WHERE THE STARTER MOUNTS, I COULD HAVE AQ WIR BACKWARDS SOMEWHERE,I DID COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL ALLL THE WAY THROUGH
BUT EVERTHING WAS DONE BY THE BOOK, I HOOK THE STARTER UP WITH JUMPERCABLES WITH HOT WHERE GROUND SHOULD BE ,,(OUT OF ENGINE FIRST) AND TYHE GROUND THE THE POST ONT THE TOP OF THE STARTER IT GOES CORRECTLY,,,DO U KNOW WHERE I CAN GET DIAGRAM FOR THE STARTER AND ELECT
OH, BTW WITHH THE STARTER HOOKD UP IT JUST TURNS FREE WITHOUT TURNING ENGINE JUST SPINS STARTER

 

NO BENDIX ON THIS STARTER

 

WICH WAY SHOULD THE STARTER GEAR TURN?
MIGHT HAVE FOUND PROBLEM , THINK THE GEARS INSIDE THE MOTOR,CLUCH GEAR WAS PUT I N UPSIDE DOWN ,,,MAYBE LET U KNOW LATER TODAY..THANKS FOR THE HELP I MAY NEED U LATER THOUGH,,,LOL

 

This forum like most, frowns upon ALL CAPS. Is the starter rope wound the wrong way? Even if it were I don't see how the pawls could engage the recoil cup correctly. Your manual doesn't have any schematics? If not I'd recommend looking for a used factoy manual on e bay.

 

I HAVE MANUAL GOING TO CHECK THE CLUTCH GEAR FOR STARTER

Found the problem, the starter clutch was in backwards. Thanks for the help
