Some Q's about the King Quad 700
#41
Nyroc, according to the new review and the Top speed of BF post over at the Kawi forum, the KQ700 will have a higher top speed.
I think the EFI, massive intake and exhaust valves along with the DOHC gives it just as much if not more bottom grunt.
Personally I think the KQ motor is very sweet, if not more advanced than the BF.
I am with u.. Sold on the KQ

I am going to ask a question when they get a KQ on the floor at the dealer..
If you have looked at the photos from the review it shows the LCD, one of the dummy lights is for fuel injection problems.
I would love to know what they expect you to do if that light comes on. How many riders on the trail will be able to help you troubleshoot a fuel injection problem?
I wish for the dummy lights we could go back 10 years in technology and just take them off. I think everyone will be paranoid about that thing, especially when we go tinkering with the ECU or MAF.

I have no fear of EFI. Almost every one of those sensors can be read with a voltmeter. I suppose we will either know the proper values for each sensor from the repair manual or from experimentation.
If this EFI is as smart as I hope it is, the blinking light will tell us which sensor is malfunctioning by a kind of morse code that it gives us. The combined knowledge of everyone that learns about it and posts on this forum will be plenty to keep us going.
Tune up grease works wonders for electrical connections that are duned underwater.
RedGob What negative features does the Prairie 700 have in your eyes? Although I'm sure it's child's play for most, I dislike the weakness of the CVT. That and the struts are really all I don't like about it.
1. The prairie CVT is excellent. Even the 02 is plenty good enough. I will say it over and over I am 100% satisfied with my belt. I had to do a little maintenance on the KEBC actuator, but nothing bad, I just oiled it. I think 2000 miles on a belt is fine. Plus the prairie belt change only takes 10 minutes. Yamahas don't wear belts as fast as a prairie, so the KQ with the same system should be somewhat better than a kawi, but I would never agree that the CVT system on a prairie is a negative. However, it is only a positive IF you keep the belt tight. I adusted mine once and it stayed tight for 1200 miles, and it is still tight. Every time I hear about a belt problem on a PRairie or AC650, I know the owner is either too dumb to read publicly available tech tips on how to adjust it or has a dealer too dumb to know how to adjust it. The belt system on those things is incredibly good if they would only adjust it and put the stiffer secondary spring in. It is that simple. My Prairie has sold me on belt drives.
2. I feel the struts SUCK on the prairie. I hate them. The steering geometery is lame and makes it harder to steer and causes excessive steering feedback on ruts and rocks.
3. I am DONE with SRA. Someone else can have it. Kisssofdeath did some rough trail comparisons with other IRS machines and he had a whole lot more trouble getting through a particular streambed on his prairie. He even asked if he could borrow everybody elses IRS machine and then went down the streambed and was sold on IRS. I had some problems on a rutty hill that a rincon went up effortlessly and I think it is all due to SRA.
That being said, I will still keep the P650 as a second quad. It is still a dang good machine to have as a second machine.

Well I read the review at atvscene. Very informative and loved the video. You can tell the thing has some torque and massive low-end because he just blipped it on that rock section and the front wheels lifted without any pull on the bars. Sounds very sweet tooMy biggest question still remains unanswered. They said it handles excellent, especially when you stiffen the front end up a little bit. However, does "excellent handling" just mean almost no push and it STICKS to corners or that it will powerslide like any good SRA?
#45
that it will powerslide like any good SRA
Maybe you should look for an SRA that handles rocks and ruts as good as a IRS.
I doubt that you will find either.
#46
I think you may be asking too much for an IRS to powerslide the same as a SRA.
Maybe you should look for an SRA that handles rocks and ruts as good as a IRS.

Nyroc,
Sounds like your sold on the KQ. Did the reviews push you over the top? I know that video makes the wait look like it's going to be worth it but at the same time the anticipation just grows. Lets hope for an early Sept release!

Im SURE BigSix will emphasise even more on this but......
As far as performance parts and mods go, i see u are gonna get to have fun buying a power commander....OR if reburning the ECM Module is ur thing u get to do that too, ohh and dont forget about the price either its gonna be quite costly!
just a few thoughts!

ohh yea, one other thing.....
I cant believe u guys are sold on something you havent even really ever seen yet! Its amazing how "gullable" (may not be the right word) you are but i find it hilairous because, in my mind its like suzuki has everyone like u guys really goin! They are startin to advertise this great new model which really is NOTHING NEW IMO! AND they have everyone "Sold" on something before it even comes out, so regardless of how good it ACTUALLY IS, YOU the BUYER wont know unitl u have already bought it, which is too late! So suzuki has already made there sales and will not care too much how happy you are with it....
