engine knocking...doesn't sound good

Default engine knocking...doesn't sound good

at an idle my z is ticking fairly loud and at about 3/4 throttle while im riding it is knocking fairly loud also, any suggestiions? also, the ticking has been getting louder every time or other time i start it up and ride.

Don't have enough info on yor bike, but I'd imagine if the bike has been riden hard you may need those valves adjusted. Have someone with good sound experience repairing quads look at it.

thanks, im bringing it a buddy of mines house tomorrow who has been fixing motorcycles ( owns his own shop) for years.

Ditto on the valves. But when researching these before I bought one, I heard about the timing chains making some noise too.?? Did you ever have the valves adjusted after break in?

i bought it used in March and put a good 900 miles on it and i dont think the guy befor me did a valve adjustment, and i haven,t done one yet either.

yea id adjust the valves if that many miles are and if its been ridden hard

i would be willing tobet its your cam chain pull your cam chain tensioner out and see if its maxed..... the z dont have rocker arms to ajust they have shims and they dont hardlyever need ajusting

i checked the adjuster and it had 3 clicks left.
