I'm not to worried about brackets we specialize in rigging stuff up. How bad was wiring it up?

Brandon if u ever drop the cam chain down into the case you can take left side magneto cover off n remove flywheel the chain is rite there to fish it back up to the cam n also should be able to replace it that way too with some wire n know how.

Brandon ,are you going to use a 230s quadsport engine?just use that wireing harness,N if you use the 230E quadrunner engine use that harness and battery its that simple.and all the 230e controlls on the handlebars if you have all those parts.
Let me know exactly what your conversion is.see if i can help.

If you drop a chain, use a magnet on a stick to pick it up.

The magnet won't fall off. You can buy the tool for $5 at autozone or sears etc.

It will last you for years and decades. One of those extandable dental mirrors are nice to have too.

It can be tough to get the flywheel off. You need a special puller ($35-$40). Even then you risk messing up the threads on the crank.

I always go ahead and drop the chain down inside to get it out of the way. Be careful not to turn the crank and wad the chain up though. It can be a pain to get it back untangled, but isn't the end of the world if it does get tangled.

A real catastrophe is dropping a cam bolt down inside. Or a head bolt washer. Pretty hard to fish those back out. I've done it.

smoke after oil change????

i picked up a 300 fourtrax about a month ago. its been smoking a little on startup. i did an oil change last night to 20w50 instead of 10w40 that it calls for. i figured thicker oil would help the valve seals not leak. fired it up and it billowed out smoke. rode it this morning and it smoked for a few minutes then cleared up. let it sit for an hour or so and it was smoking again. think i should swap to the thinner oil?

20w50 is too thick for the cam bearings and wrist pin. Your oil rings are shot.

i see online where others use 20w50 with no problems. if it was my oil ring then wouldnt the old thinner oil that was in it have smoked? before it only smoked on startup which is valve seals. im gonna check when i get home and make sure its not overfilled. it was late last night so i didnt warm it up b4 draining
