The oil cooler seems like a lot of trouble for little benefit..... Maybe we should just hang a bladder of water on the handlebars n let it drip on the engine.

I guess the issue here is that we've made the inside of the engine bigger and haven't done the same to the outside. We need more aluminum to dissipate the extra 30cc worth of heat. What about just attaching some strips of aluminum to the cooling fins and extending them? OR jigsaw the shape of the jug from a plate of aluminum and jb weld it on? Extend all the fins and it should be a cool as it was in stock form I would think.

I wouldn't want to run my EX without a cooler! Even the stock one ran pretty hot!

Yeah, its the same deal... About 10% extra cc and no change to the amount of aluminum. 400 -> 440 is about like 230 -> 258... roughly.

So, are you going to try the cooler on the 230? I don't know about all that jb welding either. And to be honest, I really can't visualize the instructions right. Nor do I know what those mystery screws are near the oil filter. The whole thing kinda scares me after sinking all this money n time in it. I'd hate to not have enough oil flow or something because I didn't understand what I was doing. But we do need to find something to do with all the extra heat of 30cc and higher compression.

Yep, that is what was thinking. Gonna put her to the test this weekend. Will be riding with my mechanic bud that finally finished the turd for me. So, like he said, she'll go or she'll blow! Sounds like a great date to me!

Wow! Mine's been down since xmas and I thought that was a long time. Actually, I'm only half way home.... I expect another 4-6 months before I can ride it. Looks like its going to be a year in total on my part too.

hey guys, will a longer rear shock wear the swing arm bearings or anything else out faster? the one i posted about in a previous post is longer than stock. also it seems as though i have an 87 swing arm on my 86 (if its not infact an 87 as the manufacturer plate has been removed). if i read correctly on a previous page they are different?

JustRandy...could you pm me the pics and what not for the extended a-arms. seriously thinking about doing this. i will be getting some pics up soon too.
