From what I have read so far on some forums is Z400's modded about the same as mine say the can hang w/ stock or lightly modified 450's. I can't imagine what an all out modded 450 would be like....scary really.</end quote></div>

My take is largely unqualified, but from a textbook point of view they should be about the same.

The 450 is 95.5mm x 62.8mm bore n stroke. The 400 is 90mm x 62.6mm. I have no clue what the 440 kit is. Probably makes it damn close to the 450 specs.

The 400 weighs only 4 lbs more, so the only differnce could be that the 450 has 18 inch tires and the 400 has 20's.

The 450 is 3 inches wider and .5 inches longer. The seat height on the 450 is 30.7 and the 400 is 31.9. But put 18's on the 400 and we can take an inch or so off the seat height and then they are about the same.

So,,, the only REAL difference in the 2 is the width of 3 inches. That and the 450 in fuel injected.

Yikes, crazy week! Last Friday my wireless modem went kaput. So called my ISP, since it was Friday they said I wouldn't receive it until Monday. So I was using my cell for the internet until Monday[img][/img] </end quote></div>

Networking..... I've tried n tried.....

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: gforce34 We are finally going camping this weekend My brother-in-law and his family are going with so I'm bringing the Z400 and he is bringing his Polaris 400 Sportsman. After he rode the Z last weekend my sister-in-law is pissed because he is now convinced that he needs to get one I kept reminding him that it is modded w/ the bigbore kit and BigGun Ignition System, Trinity Stage IV exhaust, and K &N Pro Flow intake. I think the carb was upgraded to, it comes stock with a 36mm but looks to me like it has the 39mm FCR w/ dial-a-jet. </end quote></div>

I'd be hooked too, but luckily I don't know anybody that has one.

Have fun n BE SAFE camping!

JR I believe last Friday right before my modem went south you asked what the difference was between the throttle response. I would say maybe a half second. The 230 was really instantaneous and the Z is about a half second, and then it just comes on so hard and doesn't stop</end quote></div>

Yes, I was curious about that. Half second seems like a long time though. Probably about the same as the warrior then. I guess all the new ones are that way. Even the new raptor 250 has a CV carb.

Just search google for animated gifs or animated avatars. If anything is too big, Download.com has Ulead GIF Animator 5 for a 15 day trial that works wonders. I think you can take clips out of movie files too.</end quote></div>

Oh yeah!!

I like the "Bruce tasting the blood" clip, has always been a clip in my head, bring the pain!!!!

I have ridden all the above..... The suk, the honda 450's (not ridden yama) are scarey fast!!!!! Even stock..... My experiences were with stock, (brand new) THEN with modded on both... CRAZY!!! especially the suk. fuel injection is the way to rol....

My 440 is right behind the stock 450 and still kills me

Hopefully I can get all these projects done (pond, the building, 230 bbkit, etc) n get back to making money..... And maybe by that time the housing market will be a bit stronger, 450's will be down in price and maybe I'll get to ride one some day.

How would you compare a decently equiped 450 to a decently equiped zilla? Or even a 250 2-stroke?

Though todays 4 strokes are catching up with the 2 stroke on the top end, they are still bottom end workhorses.. Kind like best of both worlds now a days...

There is no comparing the zilla I rode to anything though. it was like 610cc's of poopy pants!! I MIGHT try riding it agian when we go to the sand..
