figuired i would let everyone know i got the tm28 dialed in. 20 pilot/ 280 main, 5L1 needle with the clip all the way at the bottom. engine runs good, i feel the main is a tad rich but once i get more seat time i will dial it in.</end quote></div>
Sounds about right. Sure the 20 isn't too big? Are you running a KN filter?</end quote></div> I AM RUNNING A POD STYLE AIR FILTER. WITH THE 20 PILOT THERE IS NO OFF IDLE BOG AT ALL, WITH THE 15 PILOT I COULD NOT GET RID OF THE OFF IDLE BOG.</end quote></div>
POD style? Not sure what that is.
Cool that you got it dialed in right though.

This may be a stupid thing to say (that never stoped me though) but ,given the exact same size and shape piston, the one with the valve clearencing would have a lower compression, wouldnt it? Stands to reason that the manufacture can control the advertised compression ratio this way. <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: JustRandy

I bought my caliper and feeler gauge today and to test out the caliper I measured the piston that I pulled out. It was 67.35mm, I'm guessing it was like yours Randy not a 66.00mm but a 67.50mm. Also looking at the photos in the clymer repair manual I don't see valve reliefs cut in the head of the pistons they show in the photos but mine has valve reliefs.</end quote></div>
You have to measure the skirts, not the top or the sides.</end quote></div>
I Measured the skirt and exactly 67.50mm. Are there only a certain brand piston that has valve reliefs cut in them?</end quote></div>
I don't know.... I think its up to the manufacturers if they want to put them in. I always like to see them though. I feel a little safer that way. Apparently, some wisecos have them n some don't. My lakota wiseco has them and it says on the side of the box 8.5:1. WTF? Doesn't make any sense why a low comp piston has reliefs and a high comp doesn't.</end quote></div>

BigMC you're correct, given the same dome, etc. but that's really gettin down to the gnat's azz difference in displacement.
i figure it's got to have something to do with the cut of the cam creating a higher and longer duration lift for the valve.
i imagine wiseco makes the hi comp piston to be able to run in everything from mild to wild when it comes to cam profiles

Damn!! in a picnh (with all the wear in that clutch pack) you could toss on another fiber and steel and make it last another ride almost.<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: gforce34
Measured my clutch friction plates and glad the new ones are coming in any day now... clymer manual says minimum wear of 2.4mm and measured 4 different areas on 3 of the 6 plates and averaged around 1.95mm no wonder I was slipping.</end quote></div>
