I'm new to quads and curious about the LT230S and its' performance compared to something like a newer Ozark or Z250. How much does it weigh and how available are parts for it?

have you looked at your compression release valve lever on the head? it should be pushed bach towards the head I dont want to sound mean but i dont see anyway for you to get compression back just by putting it in gear. The 2 are not related in any way.have you tried putting wd40 in the spark plug hole then put your plug back to see if it will start? carb cleaner will work as well. i dont recommend starting fluid. If you have spark and gas you should run(even if it is bad) it should still run.

I asked that very question to a crank rebuild shop. There concern was that the stroke was already longer than that of the Warrior and that the extra length could really screw with the 230's rev limiter.

It would be cool though.

Just wanted to thank bigmc and malhombre. I've had a stock (I think) 86 lt230s for four years that I've been riding the hell out of and just keeping up with my buddies on their 400ex's. I do weigh quite a bit less than them! Last ride developed quite an oil leak, saw the cracked swing arm, etc. Was gonna dump it and buy a new 400ex till I stumbled upon this chat. The pix of your bike got me going, then I saw malhombre's and my jaw hit the floor!

So thanks to you guys, I've poured almost $1000 in to a free bike that beats, yes beats, brand new 400ex's!!
You saved me $3000!!!!

I've never belonged to chat, thought they were stupid, till now. I'll have my ole lady show me how to get pix on this thing. soon, as I'm not to good with the computer.

Thanks again guys!

Yep, read that in here! Every thing I have done has been inspired from what you all have wrote. I am in no way a mechanic, so if it werent for the Clymer manual and this thread, I'd have never made it! Now if I can just figure out how to get my Pix up!!
