Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: quadsport_230s

hey randy i was checking out the pics and i have to say the drink holder is a nice touch but if you dont mind saying how did you make that</end quote></div>

I've been meaning to put more pics in there.... Anyway, I got the idea from PoolGod last year. Its just a PVC pipe with a piece of a foam mat lining the inside. I think I used a jar lid for the bottom and the cover is another piece of PVC pipe that fits over the other pipe. I cut the pipe and glued in something round that fit. That's pretty much it. I use a piece of coat hanger as a push rod to get the bottom can out. It will take the worst punishment you can dish out and not pop a can. The foam keeps them kinda cool too. 2 cans and a water bottle strapped to the handlebars will get me farther than my muscles can hold out.

I suppose you could use hose clamps to hold the whole thing in place, but I welded homemade brackets to the frame and tapped threads to a rod to secure it.

From behind it looks like dual exhausts.

I'll get some pics up later.

Well, since I put a 250S engine in a 230 frame, I had to find a 250 exhaust. So, I found this Jardine on ebay for $50.

Turns out its a pos! I ran it for a while n thought, "hmmm... seems like this quad used to have more power than this." So, I put the stock exhaust back on that I modified last year and wow! Hello wheelie time! Sounds much better too. A LOT deeper. The Jardine is too small and the metal is too thin. Its a glass pack and the exit hole is too small in my opinion. I might take it apart n see if there's something I can do to make it flow better, but all my stock exhaust is is a big thick metal can with a spark arrestor in it and a bunch of holes in the bottom. I still needed the Jardine for the header, but the slipon part of it sucks.

So does anybody know the inside dimensions of the swing arm tubes infront of the shock mount? I am wondering what side square tubing I will need to extend it.

I don't know, but I'd say it would be the outside dimensions minus the metal thickness.... which I'm guessing is less than 1/8 inch. There should be holes on the bottom (drains) that thickness could be determined.

I did not notice any holes last time I looked at it, but that dowsn't mean they are not there. I will have to take another look. I just don't want to cut it apart and then try to find the steel I want. I would rather cut and weld right away so that I do not have parts floating around.

I just looked, I didn't see any holes. If it wasn't pouring down rain I would drill one in my trailer I made from a 230 swingarm n axle. Other than that, I have no idea how to find out how thick it is. I know almost everything I've welded on the 230 its been pretty easy to burn right thru the metal. When this hurricane goes away, I'll flip the trailer n drill a hole n see.

I hear this is the place to get info on the LT230's. I have a problem of the driveshaft oil seal retainer breaking. I have replaced it about 4 times in the last 18 months. Any ideas on why they keep breaking?
Thanks

This is a chain driven. It is the retainer just behind the drive sproket.
