You're lucky you didn't strip the threads on the hub nut. I wouldn't screw around with the wrong tools.... It will only make it harder when you finally do have to break down and get the right stuff.

The bad part is, I think the sprocket side is the only side you really need to take off. On the 250s axle, I don't even think it has nuts on the rotor side.

Have you tried heating it as you try turning it?

I heated it a little bit. I only have t small propane torch. I have th machine hanging from my garage rafters and I only spent a little bit of time on it last night. I will drop it down lower and get set up better so that the little torch can be applied consistantly and I can get better leverage on it. I soaked it in PB Blaster and tapped them with a hammer so I hope it started to loosen over night?

The blaster might help, but if you just put the torch on it for a long time, you're going to heat the axle as well as the nut. My best luck using heat has come when I applied a great force on the nut and then applied the heat. When it got to a critical temp, it started to move. Then just keep it moving. Otherwise, you'll have to heat it a lot! Eventually the heat will expand the nut and the axle, but the nut will expand more, but it takes a lot of heat to do it.

Get the quad situated like you said. Lock the axle so it can't turn. Get a suitable wrench on the nut and have a way to get a lot of constant turning force applied. Then hit it with the torch. The nut will instantly start to expand and the heat will not be fast enough to travel into the axle. Most people make the mistake of heating and then turning. You have to turn then heat. Helps to have 2 people.

I think we are on the same page. It is only me though. No little helpers in the garage.

Gonna have to get creative then. Car jacks, ratchet straps, springs.... Or just have LONG arms or STRONG arms!

I usually get creative with things, I have gotten used to working on things myself. At one of my previous houses I built a 3 car garage by myself, including the trusses. it took longer but I caould stand there ans say I did it all.

Very True. Sometimes it is better.

I added a couple of new pics of my dog and dad with the Rhino to my page, if anybody cares.
