Well I got the axle out, I left the propane burning on the nut for a couple of minutes, and had the axle on some jack stands. Had to stand on the pipe wrench but it came off great.

Bad news is I think it is bent. I did not expect it to be straight being free and all, I was just hoping.

Mine's bent too. Can't tell unless I'm checking for it.

Well the one in my machine may be bent too, but I won't know until i pull it out to put on my new swing arm and carrier.

Good news, I pulled the carrier and swing arm off the free machine and it looks good so far. Maybe I will get the bearings out tomorrow and give the pivot tube a final inspection. The bolt came out great and looked almost new. on the pivot tube there was no greese zerk and there was a manufactured dimpled flat spot on the right, foward side of the tube. I have not seen that before.

Mine didn't have a zerk either. I added one. I put them everywhere. Wheel bearings, carrier, s-arm tube, steering stem.

I've never seen the dimple either. What do you suppose it is for?

Definitely a late night at the office! I didn't leave until 1! But I got it pretty much done, just some small things that need to be buttoned up.

1. I need to figure out something for the lower a-arm bearings.

2. Get the 250S tie-rods.

3. Get longer bolts for the shock mounts.

4. Paint the shocks.

The brake lines aren't loose but they don't have enough tension to make me want to change them, so I won't.

What a pain in the neck cutting down all the mounts. I did about 3 hacks w/ the hack saw and then got out the grinder. So none of its pretty around there, but no biggy.

When I did a quick measurement with the wheels on, the new front width was around 40", outside to outside on both tires. Not bad! From looks, its about equal with the rears, which was my goal.

When I pull it backwards w/o the tie-rods, it toes in, so does that mean stiff steering, or twitchy steering?

Either way I don't care too much because when I sat on it, I could tell its going to feel super nice. You really can tell the difference with the 250S shocks.

Hopefully I'll be able to get everything except the tie-rods done tomorrow.

Any ideas for the lower a-arm bearings? Do I just have to order a kit online? They're so pricey from DK.

Here's the pics, oh and I took off my light but now I have no idea what I want for a light. Nothing looks good!
