Skullsnaps, that is one beastly looking 230. The front bumper is awesome!
I'm not 100% sure on this, but bolting a 250 head onto a 230 crank is going to make it a 250. 250 is simply the volume of the cylinder, it really has nothing to do with the power. If anything, you'd be increasing or decreasing the compression depending on the sizes. If I were you, and both motors were running good, I'd put in the 250 motor and keep the 230 on standby. The 250 is kind of the 230 v2.0.
The chain guide looks very nice. I believe it was JustRandy who used a chain guide off a Warrior with great success. I guess Yamaha has their chain guides down.
Definitely post up some pics of the rebuild you're doing, and if you're ambitious like Trailrider230s is, you could email me LOTS of pics and we can make a restoration page for you in the Vault.

I know the front bumper is kinda over kill but i got tired trees getting jammed inside the frame and the rocks were destroying the front frame tubes.
I have TONS of pics of the rebuild im doing on one of the other 230's i have. As soon as i get a little further into the build i'll post a ton of pics and email some to you for the site if you want.

I know its the volume of the cylinder, but someone was telling me that the 230 crank is a different stroke than the 250, therefore the 230 bottom end with a 250 top end would actually be a 273 or something of the like. I dont know if its B.S. or not... Kinda like putting a 400 crank in a chevy 350, it makes it a 383 stroker.

Was wondering if someone could give me the torque specs of the cam cover on a 86? Had to take mine off to change the intake valve seal (was a bitch I might add >.<). I had used my torque driver to take them off, was registered somewhere around 100 in-lb on 4 of the bolts, the rest came off easily. So I torqued all the bolts at 95. Anyone give me the exact torque? Preferably in in-lb as thats all I have lol
P.S. I didn't see them on the Vault, reason why I posted here

This is my first fixer upper my other one is an 07 Eiger 400 4x4. Been reading some of the post and they are really helpful so im pretty much learning everything as I go.
