Well, before the theft, had 1 powder coated frame with works performance shocks all the way around, 273cc top end,32mm mukuni carb, about ready to mate to bad azz bottom, (would give details but not enough of a wrencher to do justice) 3 rolling chassis, 4 stock to semi stock engines..............

Now, i have recovered, 1 powder coated frame with front works shocks, 2 stock engine heads, 1 bottom end motor, and a bunch of misc parts.....What I did get back is due to the stamping... insurance does not want to cover heart and soul, but the stamps have proved a loss, which = nothing $ wise on a 21 year old quad!!!

Enough old ****.!!! I am moving on with a 265cc kit that was not stolen, and my world famous non mechanic 230 building lack of skillzzzzzzzzzzz....

I WILL GET BACK ON TRACK!

What a dumb $%^&! He might as well be dumb enough to say where the rest of it went. I think you were extremely lucky he wasn't the brightest bulb and ran an ad in the paper. I know someone who had a guy sit her house while she was away n some gold coins came up missing. Found them at the local pawn shop.... He might as well have left a note saying what he stole and where it was. Guy is in jail now.

About the insurance.... Can't you just state the value of the loss? I have a fair amount in car audio n my agent just said state the value of it and if it gets stolen they cut me a check. Its about 10yrs old now, but replacement value has really just went up since they don't make class ab amps like they used to. I'm paying ins on the dollar amount and not what THEY consider it to be worth.

What's the difference in the 265 and 273 kits? Just bore size or is there more to it?

I'l probably get this wrong, again, but here goes...

265cc is the bigggest kit made for the LT230..

273cc is the kit for the lt250s,e, what ever it it, like your buddies.

I believe 273 changes the stroke. had to use a 250 rod, and do something to the crank and counter balance??? I am really talking out the side of my neck. But it was something to that degree..

Sorry, but I am a mechanical moron..

HELP!

How do I get the bars out that hold the rockers out? The Clymer manual says light tap and they will fall out. I am a tappin, but no falling?

Any tips?

I was thinking there was more to it than just replacing the sleeve and boring it. The shop around here says that rod will break with that many cc's. It is a pretty small rod. And considering suzuki put a bigger rod in their 246cc kit (ie the 250s), I would think a 265cc would really need it.

Its been a while since I had those rods out. My bayou was the same way,,, and I still can't remember exactly. I remember having a deal of trouble though, but I got them out. I think it has something to do with a metric bolt that screws into the hole in the shaft. And then you pull the bolt out and the shaft comes with it. Use a nut on the bolt to push against the valve cover and it will force the shaft out. I'll look in the manual and see if anything rings a bell.

In my Kaw manual it says to thread the camshaft sproket bolt into the rocker arm shaft and pull it out. But I remember having to put a nut on the bolt first and using the nut to pull the bolt out.

I meant the rockers for the valves, sorry I didn't specify. Got them out with gentle plier persuasion!

Got my 265 kits from LA Sleeve. They said stock rod would be fine, but since I had it apart might as well put in a stronger aftermarket. Been trying to track down the reciept,to let you all know what brand, but having no luck.. Have found every other dang reciept though......... Jeez i lost my damn mind on this thing! could have been a nice down payment on the '08 LT450R, sweet ride I might add..

Some kinda WAY overpriced synthetic that my machinist swears by. If I can find it in my awful mess of a garage I'll let u know.

BikeBandit should have your gasket, probably a lil pricey, but ya get tired of lookin, ya know??

43 post but no pix, come on hadaveha, YOU CAN DO IT!
