Hey guys, just an update. I bought a big bore kit cylinder, piston, rings, etc yesterday. 260cc. I won it on ebay everything new and with a new sleeve already put in for $54 including shipping. I also won a new vesrah rod kit to go along with it. Won that for $16 including shipping. I should be getting a new bottom end next week and hopefully a 250s head and everything will be going together within the next two weeks.

just remember the wrist pin for the 230 piston is smaller by 1mm so you'll have to get the rod machined on the wrist pin end 1mm bigger.

No worries about that. I'll let you guys know how everything goes. I'm taking my original bottom end apart tonight to see if I need a new crank or if I should just get a bottom end from a guy off cl.

Ok guys I'm currently running a uni air filter with the stock exhaust setup on the 230. My dg rcm pipe came today and I was wondering if I am probably going to have to re-jet the carb? Looking at the connection between the headpipe and muffler my first inclination was that there should be a clamp there but it did not come with one...should I find a clamp to work on it? Anyone else have this exhaust on their 230? Thanks in advance everyone.

I was thinking the same thing when I got my dg pipe but i asked a couple people and they said no clamp needed. just slips together. try your jetting the way it is and see how it runs. you might need to go up a jet size or two.

Thanks for the input! I'm not a carb guy and don't claim to be so I may have a few more questions coming soon

Almost forgot to ask...since I couldn't find a pipe with a spark arrestor is there a way to make one and what exactly would I need?

If you can remove the tip of the muffler, then all you need to do is get tight wire mesh and cup it over the lip of the inner pipe and wire tie it.

Thanks I'm sure I can come up with something...ok is the new headpipe designed to work with the gasket in the exhaust port because even after removing the gasket the new pipe will not slide in far enough to bolt the flange onto the two studs...maybe the studs have been replaced with shorter ones? Anyone that has any idea let me know thanks!

Got the exhaust on today after a few modifications to a brand new part that should have bolted right up. The dg pipe is louder than the stock pipe but has a much deeper nicer sound to it. Haven't had a chance to run through the gears yet just 2nd around the yard and back to the barn before work. Now all I have to do is make an endpiece to bolt on and some wire mesh to make a spark arrestor.
