Default EIGER 400 VS PRARIE 360 ????

Both of these came out as brand new '02 models - I looked closely at each back then when I was buying that class quad.

No contest - get the Eiger. The only performance advantage the P360 has over the Eiger is the dif lock feature. The Prairie leans much more towards the utility side while the Eiger is a much more spirited trail machine. Both can work and both can play but the Eiger has a larger, higher reving engine, lighter weight, less vibration. Pricing and features on each are similar - the Eiger comes stock with a speedo - an option on the Prairie. Suspension travel is similar, as is overall size and rack size. The Prairie has that nice sealed wet brake, but I have had 0 issues with the rear drum brake on my Eiger. Top speed on the P360 is in the mid-40's while top speed on the Eiger is mid-50's. Reliability on each is about the same. I know that Susuki has sold over 100,000 Eigers - don't think there are anywhere near that many P360's out there.

The mags have done many shootouts of this class quad - the Eiger usually wins and the P360 is near the back of the pack. About the only better ute in this class is the Outlander 400, but it costs a bit more.

I've had no major problems with my Eiger, save sucking in some deep mud that scratched the cylinders. Sleeves took care of that. I can get between 100 and 120 miles on my 4 gallon tank of gas. Most of our riding is is East Tennessee hills - trails, mud, rocks, fire roads. Also use it for slow speed work around the property.

The Eiger is every bit a "zippy little trail/hunting quad. The P360 is a good reliable workhorse.

Several of the places where we ride have free flowing creeks near where we park. Standard procedure is to run all the ATV's through the water just before loading. ATV's are made to get into mud and water - if they are dirty after a ride just hose them off. All the drum brakes on modern ATV's are sealed pertty well. While it is possible for the seals to fail, you usually see this on older models. My Eiger rear drums have 2,200 miles on them - never got water in them. Front discs are no problem at all.

My vote is for the Eiger also. I've ridden both , and I wasn't impressed with the P360 motor - not enough power for my liking. I own a P650, and the variable locking front diff is a nice feature, but my vote is still for the Eiger. I've read several reviews/shootouts involving the Eiger, and many of them say that the Eiger offers the best value for your dollar.

My buddy just told me that i should look at the yamaha bruin 350 ? He has one has beat the crap out of it i mean hes not easy on anything i know yamaha is a bullet proof company too now he messed my thinking up he should be a crash test dummy. He said the only thing he has had to do beside changing oil stuff like that was adjust the valves at about a couple months riding. Does anyone have imput on the bruin ?

Im getting the bruin i know the suzuki has more cc`s but not that much more liek maybe 3 miles an hour top speed. but the bruin is lighter. the tranny on the bruin is single range and the eiger is dual. I can get the bruin for 4,999 out the door thats not bad at all. the dealer told me to get the bruin over the 400 class kodiak right away i thought turning down more money so i new he was not pulling my chain. he said he only uses bruin for plowing around his property and hunting the reliable. so reliable he only uses them for his rentles the his biggest selling atv. he is larger than me to so its not to small for me. he said less parts on the quad to break is great he has not had alot back for repair out of all his quads. im about 90% on getting one
