Default Eiger's been sitting for a year, having problems now

My Eiger has been sitting in my shed for about a year now. I rarely use it, everything is in almost factory condition probably. Anyway, it didn't start (obviously). Jumped it, it ran okay for a while but then I got on it after a while and shook it back and forth and it shut off right away. Re-jumped it, put some fuel system cleaner in it with some more gas, and let it run. Well, everytime I went to go it would shut off. I kept repeating this over and over. Any idea whats wrong? Is it all the battery or is it the fuel system? I've had it for a few years and only really ride it in the winter. This is the first time it's been this bad to get started. I'm new to 4 wheelers pretty much as far as working on them, but I work on my car occasionally so I'm capable , just clueless lol.
Thanks

I would change the plug, clean the airbox and replace filter, drain all the old gas out of tank and carb(really old gas tends to gel up or "varnish"). Then id clean the carb with quality carb cleaner,re-check everything put back together, put fresh gas in with fuel system cleaner and see what that does. Beyond that Im clueless! One thing though...if your atv is going to set over the winter or for a long period of time..it always helps to put fuel system stabilizer in it P.S....it might not hurt to put a new battery in it..since its been sitting

Thanks a lot man. I'll do all that stuff and see how it goes. And I'm never letting it sit without taking proper precautions ever again. I got lucky the first year or so, but now it's catching up with it. So thanks a lot.
