I have come to the conclusion this thing is just geared too high. For those who have done gearing mod do you like the 43 or 48 tooth better? I belive those were the only two options. ALso who to contact for the sprockets and chain? How many links do I need?

Dan6995,Does your 50 not rev up at all? I know the CDI has these units set at a very low rpm. Also they do not have a neutral position ,due to the CVT , so setting still with the brake on is going to be lugging the motor causing it to struggle to rev.

RU8UP2,

Yeah the 50 does not rev up at all. As you say I assumed it was because it does not have a "nuetral".

Excellent forum guys!

This is my first post here, and I too have a completely BONE stock LTZ-50 that my kids roll around on. I came across this forum yesterday and have read it entirely from the first post. I am excited to see that I can make a few changes to this quad to hopefully wake it up.

EagerJeeper: Did you ever get around to changing out the CDI? I feel that I am on the same page as you are regarding low end grunt v.s. top speed. Aside from the other modifications mentioned, I'm wondering if the CDI would help get the RPM's up enough to allow my son to actually go up a short hill (from a start) without my assistance. I'm really not all that concerned about top speed.

Hello guys,

The CDI-doctor can rev up the CDI unit fom the Suzuki LTZ50 and LTZ90 quad.
So more power and more speed by changing the CDI-unit!

It can be done!

My LTZ50 Wont Move!

I bought my 4 year old a 2006 Suzuki LTZ50 and cannot get this thing to run right. It ran right for about 10 minutes when I first bought it and then the cdi went bad. The original owner did no mods to it and his kid rode it 3 times. It looks brand new.

The bike starts and idles fine, but when you give it gas it just cuts in and out and will barely move. It wont move if I am sitting on it (165 lbs) and will barely move if I hold the throttle and walk with it. Never stalls, just wont move.

I have completley cleaned the carb, changed the plug, put in a new cdi box (stock), new battery, checked for compression, cvt belt and clutch rollers looks like new. I have no idea what else it could be. Feels like something electrical making it cut in and out, but I guess not. I am at a total loss. Anyone ever heard of this? I've read all of the forums on this site about this little bike, but havent seen anything like this. Just the topics of gettting it more power.....i just need to get any power.

I hate to take it to the local dealer and have them charge me $80-90 an hour just to diagnose and do all the same things I have already done. I see the bill adding up real quick.

I never did get the CDI. But I think it would certainly help to build momentum to get up hills. I did mill .020 off the head but I should have done .040. The .020 really didn't help much.
