ltz50 quad no power
#451
So I was talking with my old man, telling him I bought the CDI for my son. He said "is the stock exhaust going to handle the extra rpm?" He was curious to know if the extra 3,000rpm is going to create more backpressure in the stock exhaust and maybe head up the head faster? and cause a problem down the road?
What do you guys think?

No CDI yet today.
I pulled the little quad out of the garage. I let it warm up good, then fired up the GPS, put on my helmet and took it for a ride up the street. One thing I noticed is they pick up speed way up top, but dont get to speed too quick. To be honest this is the first time I have really got on it and rode it all the way open. I weigh 165lbs and was able to GPS at 17.2mph. It is bone stock, with nothing but the spacer removed. When we were at the desert last weekend, my son was able to go 18.7 on the dirt, of course that is going down hill too. BUT, you can only go so fast when the rev limiter is banging around, which it did to me today! So I am hoping that with a CDI this sucker will see 25+mph with me or my son on it. I think 25+mph is acceptable for this little quad. With an exhaust, removed rollers and K&N, I would hope to just see it get to 25+mph a little quicker.

ALERT!!! I got the pipe in from Dennis Kirk today and its for a freakin two-stroke!! Their website is totally wrong about the fitment! I called fmf and they said they only have two stroke pipes for 50's. I guess ct has the only pipe.
Dont order stuff from Dennis Kirk guys, they have no knowledge of their products and don't even care to fix the problem!!

Hey EdKatt that sucks. It was to good to be true.Does anybody no what size pipe ct used?I was thinking about making my own.I work in a machine shop and good friends with a welder.I dont want to spend a lot of money on this thing because my son wants a dirt bike.He is only 3 so he is not big enough for that yet.

From what I read about that exhaust it mentions the FMF Turbine 2 muffler and as such should have rang alarm bells to start with sadly !
Any intake mod will always need a jetting change (depending on the altitude) if you want to do it right but usually you can get by with no change on muffler mods only as all they do is make more noise !

That sucks!!!! People selling crap that they don't have a clue about. Anyways, I'm probably late on this since you all got the K&N filter thing figured out. Have any of you tried the Uni stage 2 pod filter? I installed one on my boy's Kawi a while back , but I had to modify it since his carb inlet was over 1" . Since you Suzuki boy's are running a smaller carb then me , then this just might work for ya.
Uni Stage 2 Pod. Part# UP-4112ST 1" ID X 3"HGT
This is for a Honda CRF-XR 50/70 dirt bike.
The filter housing is rubber , so you would be able to get it over your carb inlet if its a little larger than 1" diameter. Just figured I would pass it one.

Yeah I was pissed. I saw the picture of the two stroke pipe when ordering, but it said "picture may not be representative of your order", and the fitment said it would work. I figured I would receive a different pipe. No such luck. When I called they said, "it should fit if it says it will". I said uh no! I have a four stroke idiot!
