ltz50 quad no power
#923
I just got the sprocket and wheel spacers for the rear in the mail, it took a week to get here.... My daughter has a race this Saturday but I think I'm not going to install the sprocket until Sunday, this track has some big straights and I think I need the top end for this , we'll see if I'm right... but I'll let you guys know what I think about the 48t sprocket by Monday...

My daughters ltz 50 will hardley run with the choke off. It has less than 5 hours on it. I was going to rejet the carb, but it has #58.5 main jet and 4 shops have told me that the smallest they can get is a 70. i have taken the spark arrester out in hopes that would help. Any ideas??
Thanks, Greg</end quote></div>
Ours ran much better after a tank or two of gas. It was like night and day. Maybe yours will improve.</end quote></div>
Assuming you havent made any significant modifications to the intake or exhaust your stock jetting should work for you. I ran into similar problem shortly after purchasing our LTZ50. IT turned out both the intake manifold and air filter were not properly tighened down at the factory. THis caused it to run very poorly without the choke on (it was getting too much air). I dont know if my unit was an isolated case but its worth checking.

I like the fact that the ltz50 had little levers and it was real easy to handle... She was just turning 6yrs. at the time and it seemed like the best choice... Also I never thought she would able to handle something so fast or want to jump but she's all about getting some air and speeding... Now she going to be 7yrs. and it looking like this will be the bikes last yr...
Allen from Ct said there working on piston kit and some front A-arms should be ready next month....
Other than that this quad is done. I like that Apex 70 quad, is that a good quad??</end quote></div>
these motors arent as simple as pulling the jug and replacing the piston, you have to completely pull it apart, separate the case and take out the crank/rod/piston assembly out as a whole...............i dont know if its worth going to high compression as this head dont have the head ports to truly be a racer, save yourself time and money and shave the head .015</end quote></div>
You should be able to change the piston without splitting the case[/q
had the head off doing work and double checked my service manual....case has to be split

.015 is 15 thousanths of an inch.......there is a formula for exact compression but its a real pain in the @ss.......my machine shop guy whos been doing machine work fo 40 years guesstimates somewhere in the 9 compression range.........topend i think itll run mid twenties......and still has a good bit of bottom end torque as well.....climbs big hills without flinching.
