Default ltz50 quad no power

Hey all just to let you know my 5 year old has had a 05 kfx50 for almost three years now. the current mods are, all restrictors out and the complete CT kit that comes with head pipe K&N filter and jets, the speed is slow compared to the DRR. I clocked it approx 30mph it was flying. My son weighs about 45lbs. This quad will be our next purchase and this is all stock. It has several after market products you can order from the dealer. they are 2 stroke an can get them water cooled for $200 more. So before taxes it is 2300. Just wantd you all to know. The also have 70s and 90s as well. If you want their web link it is www.drratvs.com

ive done the head work already.........................shaved head .015 while i had it apart and the valves out of the head, i rounded of the sharp edges in the intake and exhaust ports, didnt port it but just put a gentle curve on a edge left over from factory machine process ........noticeable torque increase afterwards

im working on my friends sons quad now a 2005 kfx50 2 stroke...i thougth the ltz was gutless but god stock it was a rocket compared to this........this thing has intake and exhaust restrictors, 5:1 compression( i think steam engines in the twenties had more compression) stacked pilot jets and on and on......so i removed the restrictors in the intake and exhaust , had the head shaved .040 waiting for the head to come back from the shop, reworked the stock airbox and exhaust jetted the carb and ground the slide this thing should have some go now but well see..........i know these are young kids riding these but this lack of power was ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

drr quads are the way to go....priced right and fast stock if you do half the mods we all have done to the ltz, on those quads and theyll fly, after talking with a couple owners of liquid cooled drrs... most wished they had stay with air cooled, the radiator makes them nose heavy and more to go wrong. we are buying my sons soon and will be disassemling, reworking things and building a hardcore 50

I like the fact that the ltz50 had little levers and it was real easy to handle... She was just turning 6yrs. at the time and it seemed like the best choice... Also I never thought she would able to handle something so fast or want to jump but she's all about getting some air and speeding... Now she going to be 7yrs. and it looking like this will be the bikes last yr...

Allen from Ct said there working on piston kit and some front A-arms should be ready next month....
Other than that this quad is done. I like that Apex 70 quad, is that a good quad??

The only hing to think about is how fast is your quad now? Because the Drr 50 stock goes about 30. So if yours goes 20+ get the 50 then upgrade later to the 70 because it will only cost 200 for the 50 to be upgraded. Then you can buy after market parts to make it go alot faster.

Yes this is the reason i bought the LTZ 2 years ago..i put my son on a few quads and he had a real hard time pulling the bigger levers....although pulling the parking break to start the ltz, is still pretty tough

edc7002:

Did CT say how much the A-arms are? Do you think they will be worth it?

Just got back from Sand Mtn over the weekend any I can tell you I spent a lot less time jumping off my quad to go help my sons LTZ get moving in the dunes. Since the last trip I installed the Dynatek CDI and removed three of the rollers. The little 50 did a heck of a lot better and there were a couple of others in camp with stock LTZ50's asking what I had done to ours. It is still running pretty rich at 4000ft elevation. I have yet to touch the carb or intake. Next mod will be an aftermarket airfilter and jets. Does anybody know what size main jet to run at around 4000ft?
