Default LT80 help needed

Hi,

Recently the front clutch went bananas.
Result was that practicly the whole clutch had to be replaced together with the crankshaft.

According to the parts manual there is a big washer in between the 2 discs of the clutch. When I install this one, then there is little screw thread left for the nut. I think this will reach half the nut. Since I'm not sure I've been looking for a service manual to install the clutch but I can't find any. :-(

Can I leave the washer out? Any help is appreciated!

Kind regards,
Robby

Okey Dokey,, So ya know,
The front clutch is what has the rollers are (transmission #1 in the microfiche). The left handed nut part is the rear (transmission #2) clutch.

Click atvs, then Suz, then LT80, use any year. Go to: Trans #1 and #2. Tell me what part numbers (#1,,#2,,#3,,etc.) And I'll tell you exactly what's up.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Its trans #1 item 15 washer (14.5x32x3). When I install that one, nut (item 13) is only till half the thread of the crankshaft axle.

Have following new parts installed:
Crankshaft
Starter gear
Rollers
Plate drive face (item3)
face fixed plate (item1)
nut (item13)
washer (item 15)
washer (item 14)

Is washer 15 mandatory or is it a kind of speed limiter?

Kind regards,
R

I see a #14. Yes that washer needs to be in there. The spacer (#9) needs to be tapped on to get it in farther. It's common for the spacer to not go in all the way, like I said, tap it and it'll go in...Then the nut will go on all the way.

Just curious, how much it cost you to have the crank installed?

Hi LT80,

So then I have to open it again
Maybe it's because the starter gear isn't completely till the end?
Will measure some thinks up.

I also see that the spacer exist in 2 different lenghts: 16x22x35.3 and 16x22x32.33
This could also exlain my problem since the washer is 3mm thick.

How do you decide what spacer to use???

I paid 186 euro's for the crank (complete one) but installed it myself (new bearings +seals).

Thanks for your info!

BTW it's a '91 model

Two lengths::
The old LT's (87 and 88) had the long spacer and no washer. The newer machines have the short spacer and the washer.
If you have the long spacer, use that one. If you have the short spacer w/washer, use that.
