Default 250R Can't find Neutral

I purchased a 86 250 R a few months. When I bought it, it was all tore apart. My brother and I have put it all together, but we can't seem to find neutral. Everything seems to works fine. I have already partially broke it back apart, but didn't find the problem. I can find all the gears no problem, but it just won't go in neutral. When I downshift to where neutral is, it is still in 1st.

I'm still having problem finding neutral. I can find it, but it takes forever. Its easier just to push the clutch in. Are all 250R's this hard to find neutral? I have to stop in the exact right spot to get in neutral.

Just a shot in the dark, but how high is your idle speed? it may be harder to find neutral if all the parts are spinning excessivley fast. Try turning the idle down real low and see if that helps. Like I said, just guessing, but it may be worth a shot.

on all four wheelers you have to stop in just the right spot. but on my warrior it wont go in to nutral when it is hot so i just shut it off and then shift in sometimes i have to rock the atv back and fourth but it will always go in.
