Anywhere but prime should work. Prime lets the gas flow unrestricted to the pump. How it gets from the pump to the engine by itself, I don't know.

Could be a piece of dirt or gunk in the needle/seat area.

Thanks again I just bought some parts online hopefully get it back together soon in the meantime I will look at the carb.
