Hey LT are you talking about the gasket I highlighted or the gasket below for the base of the cylinder and it's leaking oil and possibly air? Would that cause it not to idle?

Those are the same gasket.. a leak there would affect idle..

Either one can affect idling.
Sometimes the head nuts come loose and cause all this.

Great news....!!!

I took the carb off again and stuck a needle in the pilot jet... she will idle now!
I thought you referred to the gasket because of the oily grim near the base... I didn't know if maybe I had a bad gasket causing a small seepage.
