hey question for ya. im just now getting my top end put back together after having the parts for a month. i put some oil in my freshly bored jug and just kinda lightly coated it and check the ring end gap while in the jug and its good. but when i crank the new piston by hand it doesnt seem smooth and sounds like its scraping hard against the jug. is that just something that new piston/jug setups do until they are freshly broken in or is the something i should do to try and correct the problem? if it helps my piston and jug are .01 over or 66.25 mm as compared to the 66mm stock.

There should not be any scraping sounds, nor piston slap. You might have the wrong rings, I only screw with 2 stroke cylinders.

Try breaking them in and seating them correctly.

well man you're not the only one who got flooded out. i posted some pics over in the big 230 thread of what i'm surrounded with. the one pic is a friend of mine Casey on his 700 raptor almost completely sunk in the water. so no more race track and trails for me.

Was is snow related?

I hooked up the power washer to a hot lead right off the furnace and ran Dawn dish detergent right threw it cleaned the engine up real good. Let it dry over night then applied Plastikote engine enamel primer:

The headlight shell was a last minute decision to paint upon reassembly, I will have some extra blue left over from the engine + I noticed I did not have much blue toward the front of the frame:

The chain has been in a bucket of fresh 10-40 for a few month's now so I hung it to remove excess:

hey another quick question. i got the head and cylinder back on, but when i was moving the piston up and down i noticed all the oil i put around the cylinder wall to lubricate it was all pushed to the top after a few rotations and it was bone dry at the bottom of the cylinder. is this something to be concerned about or should oil work itself all over once its started and the oil pump has got things moving?
