Default How do you tell if a clutch is bad?

I have a 2006 LTZ440(Big Bore) and I think the clutch is bad. I intend to take it apart and see if I need to buy plates/disks/basket, etc...

What do I look for and how do I tell what parts I will need to buy?

Thanks!

measure the thickness of your fiber plates. they should be thicker than 2.62mm and the claw width should be thicker than 13.2mm. if these are under than its time to replace clutch

Best advice take it to a Suzuki dealer and have the clutch repaired right the first time..

if your like sand hog and your made of money bring it to the dealer. but if you have some mechanical ability and money is a object in your eyes dont ride it until you dont go anywhere like lucky. if you change the fiber discs before there gone you can ussually reuse the steel plates 2 times. and measure them as newport says

I'm by no means made of money I just take proper care of my machine so it takes care of me in the desert, and yes that includes proper maintenance or repair work from a dealer who backs up their work.

And that is all I got to say about the subject.
